John David Conquered Math

John David has always been smart, but he has not always enjoyed using his smartness.

Math was a struggle this year. Again, not because he lacked the brains, but because he didn't like doing the work.

So on the day when his class finally completed the very last page in their thick math book, he was so excited to take it out to the yard and jump on it!

(If I'm being honest, I have to say that I wanted to jump on it too!)

Here's a picture of him holding his honor roll certificate. I told you he was smart! Doesn't he look excited to be there? =)

Zoo

Aulora is a gatherer by nature. All the time, everywhere. Gather, gather, gather.

The walk through the zoo was a little slow due to this fact.

We loved the butterfly house!

I'm not sure what this pose was all about, but Joshua came up with it on his own.

Joshua wanted to grab the butterflies.

I love his faces.

The giant turtle picture turned out much better this year than last year.

These two are best buddies.

Joshua was trying to sniff Aulora. She didn't like it!

(John David and Julia are with John's parents right now so they weren't with us for this zoo trip.)

Making Room

At bedtime, Aulora told me her nose really hurt. The rest of our conversation went like this:

"Why does your nose hurt, baby?"

"Because I've been picking so many boogers."

"Why were you doing that?"

"I was making room for more!"

Obviously I am no longer her destiny (see yesterday's tweet) - picking boogers is. Funny girl...

...this little man in your prayers today. We're about to leave for his surgery. I'm so thankful for all of the health my kids have been blessed with. This is going to be a first (and hopefully last!) thing for this mommy.
