City Slickers Up Close and Personal

My mom, who is a Dallas native and now resides outside of Denver, went on a cattle drive today. Normally, she's working hard as a VP assistant for a well-known organic company. This week they were having meetings all week in Vail and today was a "fun day". I think she would have issue with that term now though.

Even though she could have chosen a full body massage for her "fun day", she wanted to get out and do something different. So a cattle drive it was! I still don't have all the details yet, but we do know that at one point, she took her feet out of the stirrups for a moment. At that same moment, the horse got spooked and threw her off. Ouch.

She's in the hospital now. Praise God - we found out not long ago that all that's wrong is a badly broken wrist, dislocated fingers, and lots of scrapes and bruises. We had feared that her shoulder was broken or that she had internal injuries, but tests and scans have proved negative.

My poor momma. She's had to go in an ambulance twice in two weeks now! It's so hard to be so very far away. =(
